OUR PARTNERS
The Onlabs team uses its expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Natural Sciences and Education, to increase the learning gain in science laboratory courses through the use of cutting-edge virtual reality technology. We have worked with companies, students, instructors, researchers, programmers, artists and the joint effort has accumulated of many years of R&D, producing all along many papers and theses, besides the core software and related educational assets.
SEE OUR PARTNERS
The Industrial Systems Institute of Athena Research & Innovation Center
The Industrial Systems Institute (ISI) is established in Patras, Greece, since 1998. It is a leading R&D institute of excellence conducting basic research and exploratory development on Information and communications technology (ICT) for the Greek and European industry.
Our collaboration with ISI
Through this collaboration we are experimenting with extensions to the Onlabs technology. We are interested in seeing whether we can enhance the user experience by providing improved immersion, either through technology for gesture control or through technology for improved visualisation (through head-mounted devices or augmented reality). All these innovations will be embedded in teaching scenarios in science laboratory courses, and the learning gain will be evaluated.
This research has been implemented through the Regional Operational Program of Western Greece 2014-2020, RIS-3, (MIS: 5038608) and is co-financed by the European Union (European Social Fund – ESF) and the Greek National Funds.
The MediaLab of Athena Research & Innovation Center
The Multimedia Research Group (MediaLab) focuses on the research and development of algorithms, techniques and tools for digitization, analysis, management and dissemination of cultural assets, ranging from very small objects to urban areas and open spaces. In doing so, MediaLab has been included in numerous R&D activities involved with multimedia databases and applications, multimedia processing, feature extraction, indexing and content-based retrieval, 3D digitization and representation of objects, monuments, architecturals, urban areas, actual and virtual worlds, 3D representation of multi-dimensional data, content-based analysis and organization of multimedia collections.
